Madrid is my favorite non-English cast. TAC is my favorite English. This is a damn nice line up.
It alternates between the Madrid cast and the Paris revival for me. I’ve been listening to Madrid a lot more lately so I guess that is my favorite at the moment.
The TAC was my first recording so it will probably always be my favorite, but I am really fond of the 2010 recording.
Man you sound like me. I asked Vee what recording I should listen to because I wanted to hear Les Mis. She immediately said the TAC. Ruined me for life. Ruthie Henshall singing Fantine’s death was the first thing that ever made me cry in Les Mis.
I had to listen to the 2010 cast a few times for it to grow on me, and now they’re one of my favorites.
I wish they’d put out a recording of the US Tour with Jeremy Hays and McVey and Varela. I’d buy that.
I think the first time I watched the TAC in it’s entirety was when I broke my foot a little over a year ago. I had bought the DVD for my brother about three or four years before that, but he never watched it. So I borrowed it because I needed something to do and immediately fell in love with it. He hasn’t seen his DVD since.
Same with me, I think it took about three listens for me to start liking most of the 2010 cast. I liked John Owen Jones and Earl Carpenter right away because I had previously listened to them in Phantom, but Jon Robyns and a lot of the others had to grow on me.
YES! I would give anything to have an official recording of the US tour! That was amazing cast!

Final count of Les Miserables recordings listened to today, six.
TAC, Madrid cast, Paris revival, Polish cast, Dutch cast, and the Berlin cast.
I probably drove everyone crazy, but whatever. I create best while listening to Les Mis.
I guess that’s as good as is going to get. I’m not very happy with it but at least it’s done.
Pictures coming after I clean my brushes.
Almost there. I’m aiming to get done by one. We’ll see what happens.
I’ve listened to the TAC, Madrid, and the Paris revival.
Now I think it’s time for the Polish cast.
I think I’m almost done with my master study. I think about an hour or two more and it should be done. Then I just have my abstract left.
I’ll post pictures of them when I’m done since I’ve been bitching about them so much.

Oh, gee. Not the Amis. Anyone but the Amis. …I would not be disappointed.
You’re right, forget the Amis. I know everyone wants to see more of the Thenardiers, Bamatabois, and Tholomyes.
Good to know, I just wanted to check.
I have been thinking about my Les Mis project a bit while I was painting. As of right now, I’m planning on illustrating scenes from the whole book. However this will take a very long time to complete and it might become overwhelming as I go on.
I’d hate to abandon the project completely, so I would like to have a back up plan just in case I decide that illustrating the whole book is too much.
I was thinking that I could start out by illustrating a lot of the Amis stuff first since I already have a pretty clear mental image for most of them. If I realize that doing the whole book is going to be way too much work, I can always turn it into a more Amis centric project. There will of course be cameos by the other characters, but it would focus mainly on the Amis.
Would anyone be too disappointed if the project ended up going in this direction?
I think I already told you this in fanmail, but I wouldn’t be disappointed at all. And anyone who’s disappointed by good Les Mis fan art despite who’s in it… they need to rethink their priorities!
Do what you can. Take your time and don’t feel like you HAVE to do it. Do it because you enjoy it and you want to.
That said… I’m so eagerly awaiting this project. I really, really am. :D
(Besides, even if it does turn into an Amis-centric project, that doesn’t mean that you’re never going to draw Javert or Valjean EVER.)
Good to know. I just wanted to make sure. I know I should do it for myself, but I don’t want anyone to be upset because they were expecting the whole book and I ended up changing it.
I’ll try to do as much as I can and I’ll take breaks if I need to so i don’t go crazy.
I’m excited for it too. I really wish the semester was over now so I can finish my Enjolras drawing and then get started on this.
I know I’m going to end up drawing Valjean and Javert when I do the barricade scenes, but their stuff might be more towards the end since I still don’t have a clear mental image of them.

Well shit.
Wow, it’s a good think I had a promotional code to get Les Miserables tickets on presale.
They go on sale to the general public today and the price went up about $15 (at least for the area we are sitting in) and all of the really good seats are gone already due to season tickets and the presale.
But I have my tickets for opening night so I’m good.
